Genevieve Townsend is a painter and maker living in the Ottawa Valley. Her work is informed by both the natural landscape and ethereal world – and a good dose of play and fun.
Primarily a painter and illustrator, she works in acrylics, watercolours and inks. She recently illustrated the children’s book Lemons, Limes & Tangyryne written by Sharmayne Whyte. Along with painting, she has an equal love of textile art making and especially loves needle felting. She had the opportunity in the early days of the pandemic to design and facilitate a collaborative tapestry with over 50 community contributors working remotely – creating in fabric, yarn, thread, leather, wool, beads and even glass. The People and Place Map Tapestry was created for and exhibited by OV-CAOS’s Pop Up Art that traveled the valley.
She is very inspired and dedicated to collaborative art making in her community. The only thing better than making art is making art with others.
