For over 30 years, Laurel Cook and her husband ran a kennel outside of Clayton, Ontario, and she took her inspiration for animal portraiture from the many beautiful dogs in their lives. At the end of November 2020, they closed the kennel and moved to the Bonnechere Valley, where Laurel discovered that numerous barns in the area sported wonderful barn
“quilts”. She decided to use that motif in smaller exterior paintings incorporating various animals into the designs, including pigs, donkeys, cats, dogs, and birds. She calls these whimsical paintings “Photo Bombing
Barn Quilts”.
